Our book, Frank the Chair Visits Kansas, is HERE!
Not sure what I'm talking about?
Let's start from the beginning.
A small, green chair became known as Frank the Chair in January 2014. What began as a personal photography project, ended up creating this popular, adorable character that you can't help but love. It may seem strange to name a chair, but around our house, he's practically part of the family now.
In 2014, he took several big trips:
- McDaniel Farm Park
- Jackson Street Bridge
- Vickery Creek
- El Salvador
- Helen, GA
- Coolray Field
- Georgia Tech
- Buford Corn Maze
- Christmas Tree Farm
- ... and showed a glimpse of what it's like to be Frank!

End of 2014
My husband, Aaron, had been throwing around the idea of doing a children's book for a few months, but I just wasn't sure about it. People loved Frank -- they would ask where he was when we were out and about, like he was our child -- but, I wasn't sure if they loved him enough to buy a book.
In December of 2014, I lost my mom in a car crash. My mom enjoyed Frank. Funny story -- earlier in the year, my car was broken into, and Frank was in the backseat. Thankfully, nothing was taken -- including Frank. While talking to my mom about the incident, she asked how Frank was handling it, and said he probably needed ice cream to cope from the trauma. You think I'm joking, but I'm not.
After the funeral, I decided that creating a children's book would be a great way to honor my mom's legacy. I was reminded of so many stories of how much my mom gave of her time and resources to provide books for her students -- and other teacher's students. And, who better to feature in this children's book than our very own Frank?
In the spring of 2015, we searched and found our illustrator. The cost for the illustrations was going to be more than we could afford, and I did not want to skimp on these illustrations. So, in March, we launched our Kickstarter campaign. We had 30 days to raise $3,000. I had my moments of doubt, as we neared the finish line, and a large chunk of money was still missing.
But, YOU DID IT! We raised the necessary funds because of many generous people. Here we are, six months later with a BOOK!
I've been so grateful as we neared the launch of this book and completing our Kickstarter. As we've been sending out press releases, many people have reached out and told me how much my mom impacted them and how they can't wait to get a copy of the book! It's been exciting to hear these things, because at the end of the day, this book was to honor her. We wanted to create something that children would love to read, because she loved getting kids excited about reading! Pick up a copy of the book for your kids, your cousins, your neighbors, or even yourself! As one reader has already said, "I loved the book. I wish I had a child to read it to, because I could see the kids falling in love with Frank."
