You’ve published a book (maybe even a cookbook!), and now you need to add your book to your website! If you’re an author, or an aspiring author, this is for you.
Since most of my audience is in the health and nutrition field, I’ll be using a cookbook as an example.
On your website, you want to include:
– a photo and description of the cookbook
– a description of you as the cookbook author
– buttons to buy the cookbook
– reviews of your book
So you’ve published a book or even a cookbook, and you’re so excited. It’s on Amazon. But that’s the only place that you haven’t No, no, this is not what we want to do. You want to have a dedicated book page on your own website. And in today’s video, I’m going to show you what needs to be on that page. If you’re new here, my name is Jess, I create videos for business owners like you to help you save time and look good online.
And if you’re an author, this video is just for you. Now a lot of my audience is dieticians, and fitness professionals. So I’m going to be using a cookbook as an example today of what you should include on your page. But it doesn’t matter what kind of book you’re publishing, you can still use the same kind of details on your book page. Okay, so at the very top, a picture of the book and a description of the book, it can even be the same description you have in your Amazon listing.
This is very basic, it’s a book page, we want to have a picture and description of sedbuk, then we want to make sure that we know more about us the author. And yes, you do have an about page on your website, we know that. But let’s have a small little section about you as the author, and why you wrote the cookbook or the book, I would keep this to one or two paragraphs, it doesn’t need to be your entire about page again, just needs to be a little blurb.
Again, you had to put some kind of author description on Amazon, it can be the same information. Next we want to have buy now buttons. Obviously, we don’t want to just have a page without a way to buy the book. So if it’s just on Amazon, totally fine. Just link to Amazon. If it’s available in other places, link to those places. And make sure you link specifically to your book page.
Don’t just link to amazon.com if you have reviews from beta readers from Goodreads calm, or if you are setting up this page after it’s already been on Amazon, and now you have some Amazon reviews include some reviews on this page, it can be just screenshots of their reviews. Goodreads has a widget you can embed on the page, there are options, but include at least a few testimonials or reviews of your book we don’t need like 20. But I would say like two to three. And then lastly, there are two more things I would recommend they are optional.
But I do think they are helpful. The first is to include recipes from your cookbook. So a lot of dietitians are also bloggers and like to blog recipes of things they’ve created or cooked recently, people who’ve written cookbooks will sometimes choose a few recipes from the cookbook to create blog about so that they get traffic to their site. But then also, in that recipe posts can say this recipe is in my cookbook, buy it here, very easy sell. So do a few recipes with them up his blog posts, and then link to those blog posts slash recipes from your book page.
So people can see these are a few of the recipes in the book. We all like a little sneak peek, right. The other thing you could do is have a freebie on this page. It could be one of the recipes, if you don’t want to do it as a blog post. It could be something kind of related, I would just recommend that you have some kind of follow up sequence to that freebie that encourages people to buy your cookbook and leave a review reviews are very helpful. So you want to encourage people to get them and you can’t directly message people via Amazon, anybody who buys your book.
So you want to prompt people ahead of time. And that’s it. That’s kind of the basics of what you should have on your book page as an author. Again, you want the benefit of having this on your own site, so that there’s more SEO and people are more aware of your book. If you have any questions please let me know down in the comments.
