When you’re first starting out with your website, it can be overwhelming to decide what pages to include. While there are many pages that could be beneficial, there are three that are absolutely crucial. If you’re working with a limited budget or just getting started, focusing on these three pages will give you the biggest return on investment.

Inside This Post

  • 1. The Home Page
  • 2. The About Page
  • 3. The Services or Products Page

1. The Home Page

Your home page is the first impression visitors get of your website. It’s the page that most of your traffic will land on, and it’s your chance to convince people to stay and explore further. However, many people get this page wrong by making it all about themselves instead of focusing on their customers’ problems.

Your home page should be simple and clear. It should tell visitors what you do and who you do it for. It’s like the welcome mat into your house. It doesn’t need to be an in-depth tour of your entire website, but it should make visitors feel like they’re in the right place.

2. The About Page

The About page is where visitors get to know you and your business. It’s a chance for them to connect with you on a deeper level. However, this page isn’t just about you. It’s about your business, your approach, your values, and why what you do is important.

While it’s good to include some personal insights and fun facts to show that you’re a human, the focus of the About page should be on your business. Avoid the temptation to tell your entire life story. Instead, focus on why people should care about your work.

3. The Services or Products Page

The Services or Products page is where visitors learn about what you offer and how they can hire you or buy your products. This page is crucial because it’s how people decide to work with you.

A common mistake people make on this page is to simply list their services or products without providing any context or addressing potential pain points. Instead, you should use this page to sell your services or products. Provide context, highlight the benefits, and include testimonials for social proof.

These three pages – the Home page, the About page, and the Services or Products page – are the most important pages on your website. If you can only afford to have a copywriter or web designer help with three pages, these are the ones to focus on.
